So far 2010 has already seen more than it’s fair share of big name sequels like Final Fantasy 13, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Bioshock 2. This week, the wheels continue turning and we witness the launch of what may well be the biggest game of the year on PS3…

God of War III

GOW3God of War III

The God of War trilogy comes to it’s bloody conclusion with Kratos picking up where he left off at the end of Part 2.

Climbing Mount Olympus, the sheer  scale of this game dwarfs most other action games that have come before. If you’ve played the demo (admittedly it is 9 months old now, so possibly not 100% representative), you’ll know that Part 3 is very much a God of War game, and controlling Kratos feels exactly the same this time round. Again, what you’ll get is a very slick, epicly told hack and slash adventure game.

So far, God of War 3 has been getting great reviews from the specialised press, but personally I felt a little let down by what I’ve played so far. Sure, Kratos in High Definition is astonishing, but it all feels just a little stale.

We’ll find out this Friday!

Metro 2033

XBox 360, PC

4A Games / THQ

Metro 2033

Metro 2033

Metro 2033 was announced in October last year, and is released this Friday. Generally, the lack of hype for a title such as this, developed by an Eastern European team (with some of the team members who developed S.T.A.L.K.E.R. some years back) means we’ll get a low budget straight-to-dvd type affair.

All signs point to Metro 2033 being an exception to that rule however, and what has emerged is looking to be a very tight and atmospheric First Person Shooter / Survival Horror  game. Taking place in a post-nuclear Russia, the game sees you navigate the Moscow Metro tunnels which have become infested with – you’ve guessed it – mutants.

Reviews are just starting to emerge on the net, and it looks like Metro 2033 could very well be a sleeper hit. Concerns are being raised about the depth and quality of the combat, but the tense atmosphere and narrative are the main ingredients, and it excels in those areas.

Like that? Maybe you'll like these. Then again, maybe you won't. We're not fucking psychics you know.
