Hot chicks funking your shit up

First up this week is the delightful Goldfrapp.  Named after the lead singer Alison Goldfrapp, this duo (Will Gregory being the other half) formed in 1999 and have been weirding us out with their music ever since.  I only heard of them quite recently when I stumbled upon their third album, Black Cherry.

Their lyrics are like the mad scribblings of the emo son of a mad scientist.  Their music accompanies those lyrics fantastically.

Here’s the title song from the Black Cherry album.

Her voice is all melty like in a Marks and Spencers ad. Plus we think that makes her even hotter than she already is.

Some might say that their music is somewhat of an acquired taste and just on the wrong side of alternative to be too commercially successful. Probably.

But even if you only listen to it every now and again, we can recommend that you get the Black Cherry album from iTunes. You won’t be disappointed.

Here’s Strict Machine, also from that album. It’s much more up beat but still aces.

It’s not unusual for a bonkers band with bonkers music and bonkers lyrics to have mad as bat shit videos, and you’ve noticed that by now.

Here’s a song from their 5th studio album The Seventh Tree, it’s called A&E.

She’s all lying around in leaves and there are some leaf/tree type people. How creative.

Finally, their latest single Rocket, from their latest album Head First is probably their most commercial offering to date. I must admit that I got all musically snobbish when I over heard a young wan declare to her friend that “That rocket song bird is just another Lady Gaga wannabe”.

She could be as she sings about having a rocket that she wants to put some dude on, you be the judge.

We really like Goldfrapp, a nice dose of wackiness.

You’ll find all their stuff on iTunes and they’re also playing Oxegen this year if they really tickle your nozzle.
