For some reason I always considered billiards to be an old man’s poorer version of pool, probably because the only time I ever played it was as a kid in my grandad’s back room on a table that had been there since the 60s.
However all that changed this week while looking for a suitable candidate for the latest boob.ie Sports Babe.
Jennifer Barretta, nicknamed ’9 millimetre’ (clever huh?!), started out as a tennis player but turned to billiards and at her peak spent between six and eight hours a day practicing.
Having turned professional aged 29, she competed in her first pro tournament in 2002 before winning the 2006 Empress Cup Championship.
She appeared in the independent movie ’9 Ball’ about Women’s 9-Ball World Championship which was released in 2000.
Jennifer took some time off from the game to have her first kid but is back competing again and is now sponsored by Amsterdam Billiards, Mezz Cues and Ivan Belmonte Cue Cases.
“After a year off from pool, I’m back on the pro tour and enjoying the game again,” she said.
“It hasn’t been easy balancing motherhood, work and practice, but I’m making it work.”
She appeared in both FHM and Playboy in 2005, but sadly wasn’t nude in the latter.
