This week I have two great albums for you to and a new site that if you are a musician or just a fan, you should most definetly check out!

INDIE-POP

The Dead Flags – You Got It Wrong EP

The Dead Flags are a three piece pop-rock band who first came to prominence back in 2008.  It was thanks to a demo that they managed to get featured on 2FMs Next-Big-Thing showcase and on the 2FM 2morrow 2our.  The EP You Got It Wrong is the follow up to their 2010 debut and features two new tracks plus a remix by electro-sexfunk artist Jack Samson.  Despite losing a member it has to be said the band has not lost any of their ability to write catchy pop-rock songs.  The main single, You Got It Wrong is a familiar sounding, but a very fresh upbeat catchy song that you will be able to sing along to no problem.  Fresh, fun and very likeable.  The other track, What It’s All About, is again catchy and likeable but more stripped down and more real.  It gives the listener a sense of what the band would be like live.

A nice taste of what the band has in store for us with their next album and a song made for the radio.  A definite one to watch, these boys are going places.  Pick up the EP on the 26th of October and check out their website, here, where you can listen to the single You Got It Wrong.

ROCK

Tom Fuller Band – Ask

Ask is the third album from the Tom Fuller band.  On this record the band is rounded out by former members of Paul McCartney’s band which for the man who gives a lot of credit to McCartney must surely be a dream come true.  The McCartney influence is evident on Ask but the sound is definitely Tom Fuller.  They album brings the listener on a journey opening with the catchy Lovers before kicking into the title track.  Infectious, catchy and an all round rock album.  It’s not too in your face but does rock out quite a bit.  It is quite refreshing to have a straight rock album in an age where everybody feels they have to outdo everyone else with how extravagant they are.  Anthem Man is one of the many stand out tracks and features beautiful Beatles-esque harmonies.  An uplifting and positive album that finishes as it, started with some great guitar work on closer, Garden Dreaming Days.

A great soundtrack for looking back on the summer and an all round great rock album.

Boost the Music

“Artists make great music, but fans make music great”

Boost the Music is the new Irish website that helps fans and artists promote their band or local music scene in different cities.  As a fan you can link up your Facebook, Twitter and Last FM account and share all the “buzz” you submit.  “Buzz” is things like reviews of gigs, albums/tracks, interviews etc.

You also have the chance to buy virtual merchandise for free, some artists charge to help finance new albums and the like.  It’s a great way for fans to get involved in their local music scene and advise people on who to see and not see.  It’s all about earning points, the more you submit the more points you earn and the more rewards you are able to get.  It is also advisable to have your band on Last FM.  At the minute it’s still in beta testing but still a really cool website so check it out, here, and get boosting.

Like that? Maybe you'll like these. Then again, maybe you won't. We're not fucking psychics you know.
