The Prodigy are proud to present the next installment of their ‘Warrior’s Dance Festival’ at Kalemegdan Fortess in Belgrade on September 15th 2012.

“Why the hell are you telling you about this?” I hear you collectively scream at your laptop. “It’s in fecking Belgrade!”

Well I understand that, but it’s The Prodigy and they are all hella kinds of awesome, and the Warrior Dance Festival knocks seven shades of shite out of the usual Electric Picnic and Poxygen festivals that are so popular with the Irish public. Plus, with Oxygen not happening this year, you could easily spend some of your hard earned sheckles on a trip over to have an experience that you won’t get on these shores.

The Warrior Dance Festival started in 2009 in the crazy capital of the world, Tokyo and was quickly hailed as one of the “must-see” events on the music calendar. Bizarrely yet brilliantly they took the event to Milton Keynes of all places in 2010 and played to a capacity crowd of 65,000 at the Milton Keynes Bowl. Strange locations, but amazing reviews.

Taking the gig to Serbia this year is a sort of homecoming for The Prodigy who played there for the first time in 1995. Rumour has it that after that gig, they were given the key to the city of Belgrade and then went and lost it. Not sure how true that is, but with the reputation The Prodigy have for being (how can I put this?) not exactly ON their heads all the time, I wouldn’t put it past them.

Have a look at some of the action from previous Warrior’s Dance Festivals and tell me that it doesn’t make you want to get right on it!

Plus it’s The Prodigy! I am completely biased when it comes to these lads. I remember seeing them for the first time down at the Trip To Tipp, Feilé waaaay back in the day (kids, ask your parents!) They blew me away then and have done so with every gig I have seen since.

They are currently recording their highly anticipated 6th album to follow their well received Invaders Must Die which was released back in 2009. That album has gone on to sell 1.5 million albums to date (to put that in perspective, that is one album for every time Louis Walsh has fellated Simon Cowell since X-Factor began. That is A LOT!) and The Prodigy have covered over 200,000 miles to play 128 gigs in 37 countries to promote it.
