Cars we'll never own

By | 20 Feb 2012 | No Comments

First off, I have a car so I don’t need another one.

But then women have shoes and that doesn’t stop them wanting more and more of them.  So many that they could shoe a giraffe safari’s burlesque end of term show if they wanted to.

I have an Almera, it’s a great car.

Brilliant petrol milage.

Never lets me down.

Has a few rattles and squeaks that come from age, but adds character.

It’s GOLD!

Has alloy wheels, space age type controls to other parts of the car from the steering wheel.

Electricity powered windows.  The future, today!

I shouldn’t get rid of it, because I’d be a fool to, but if it sounds like something that would brighten up your life (and it truly would) then I’ll sell it to you for a price that would make you think I’d gone insane.

And I throw in an out of date Garmin sat-nav.

And an ice scraper.

But for the time being, I can always look other cars.

The McLaren MP4-12C is one that I’ve been looking at.  Haven’t found one on Done Deal.ie that I can swap for an Almera though.  They don’t know what they’re missing.

With McLaren’s newest creation gradually making its way to most markets around the world, the tuning industry is stepping up its efforts to satisfy the needs of power-thirsty buyers.

After Hennessey, German tuning firm Wheelasandmore has also presented a new package for the McLaren MP4-12C, which includes both styling and performance products.

In factory guise, the MP4-12C’s mid-mounted 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine is rated at 600PS (592HP) and 600Nm (442.5 lb-ft). A reprogrammed ECU along with a custom sports exhaust system push those numbers to 666-horsepower and 640Nm (472 lb-ft) respectively.

Wheelsandmore noted that it’s currently working on a more aggressive tune with modified turbochargers and intercooler upgrades that will lift output to around 800-ponies.

For now, the company’s tune also includes an electronic hydraulic suspension system that lowers the ride height by another 25mm and is said to improve handling and steering.

The package is complemented by a new set of lightweight forged alloy wheels finished in black with an orange rim (20-inches with 245/30 Continental Sport Contact 5P tires up front and 21-inches shod in 325/25 rubber at the back), with matching color racing stripes.

Yeah, go faster stripes.

Unfortunately one thing missing from my Almera, should any prospective buyers be reading.  But I’m at the ready with some felt tip pens if you want some.

Fuck it.

Like that? Maybe you'll like these. Then again, maybe you won't. We're not fucking psychics you know.
